“It was a really enjoyable 5 days, the company was great, there was plenty of delicious food and I certainly feel like I learnt a lot from you Charlie – and I am still most impressed that you had the stomach to be below deck & cook a roast chicken whist we were night sailing in over rough seas towards the needles!”

“Thanks to you Paula and Charlie for my Day Skipper refresher course mixed with the perfect balance of R&R. So much fun and I learned so much more than I’d hoped. Charlie was the perfect host/instructor so very generous with his time and energy and Jemima just the perfect boat – comfortable clean and spacious. Highlights for me were diving off the back of the boat for morning swims, catching delicious mackerel, dropping anchor at Chapman’s pool for refreshments at the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers. We’d love to book ourselves further instruction with Charlie and Jemima soon… when the kids can swim possibly a family holiday if you’ll have us…Best wishes, John“

“Dear Charlie, Nikki and I took the boat out on our own today for the first time. We were blessed with sunny skies and light winds and a sense of freedom that has no equal in anything we have ever done. Though we took the boat on and off the mooring faultlessly, we believe our greatest achievement was to hold true to all you have taught us – namely, the engine was cut at the starting platform and only restarted when we once again entered the river. (We sailed onto and off of an anchorage at Hurst Castle, and took pride in being the only boat that did, of the five moored there.) We look forward to the occasion when we sail with you again – (we still have so much to learn, and we so want you to teach our sons) – but the foundation of knowledge and confidence you have given us, speaks volumes to your talent as a teacher. All we can say is thank you. Your grateful students, Peter and Nikki“

“Hi Charlie, Just wanted to say thank you so much for last weekend ¬ apologies this is a little late but have been rather flat out this week. Really enjoyed the trip to Weymouth and it’s fantastic to be able to take someone with your experience, patience and ability to teach. It’s really great being able to throw lots of questions at you and I learn a lot every time we are out or doing something new. “Thank you for a most successful adventure for the Fishers aboard Jemima. It was all very well organised, and despite the inevitable ups and downs of life with young children (i.e. Gregory’s health on the first day) it all worked out very well. We were actually very happy with the weather, as we got plenty of sailing experience and good winds – after all it is the end of October in England! The best thing is that the children had a really good time and are full of beans coming home, so we know we will be able to do it again with an all-enthusiastic crew – and that is very much down to the experience you gave us all. Anyway, have a great holiday yourselves, and thanks again. Clare and Chris (and a big thank you from Adelaide, Meredith, Evelyn and Gregory).“

“Apologies for not writing last week it was rather hectic for us both. We had a great weekend and really enjoyed it and even the weather was reasonably kind to us. I just hope I never have to use the perfected skill of retrieving Man Over Board. You did not tell us that Charlie’s skills went far beyond sailing and he was an expert Host, Chef, Story teller, Fisherman, Comedian (and that was just Saturday!).
